DRUGS
 
Cytopoint monoclonal antibody targets IL-31 to treat pruritus.  Single monthly in-clinic injections with minimal side effects.

Alfaxan (Jurox UK) licensed to induce anaesthesia in rabbits.  They are hosting a series of roadshows in rabbit anaesthesia.

Ophthocycline (chlortetracycline) eye ointment licensed for Staph, Strep, Proteus, Pseudomonas ocular infections dogs and cats.

Broadline indications extended to include more tapeworm variations, and cat liver fluke (seen in Europe and zoonotic)

Vitamin K1 tabs side effects include vomiting and skin disorders such as erythema, allergic oedema.
DISEASES AND TREATMENTS

RHD2 is endemic and has overtaken RHD1 as the main virus strain. Rabbit Welfare Assoc. encourage all vets to make RHD2 vaccine part of the core vaccines.

Raw pet food is associated with increased shedding of AB resistant enterobacteria in cats. Read here

NEWS

Cheshire, Derbyshire, East Sussex, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire will now be classified as fully in the Edge area for bTB. This will result in increased testing for some areas.
 
The UK has seen a 27% drop in antibiotics purchased for food producing animals. Sales of critical antibiotics have also decreased.
Antibiotic targets have been reached 2 years early.
 
CCTV is to become mandatory in UK slaughterhouses from next year. A DEFRA consultation showed over 99% of respondents were in favour.
 
DRUGS

Solacyl “asprin for calves” is an additive for use in feed, milk or water. Providing analgesia and supportive care along with antibiotic treatment in bovine respiratory disease.
 
Bovilis BVD and Bovilis IBR marker live can now be mixed in the same syringe and administered together for booster vaccinations.
 
Zulvac SBV will be available for vaccination against Schmallenberg. The primary vaccination for sheep is a single dose, with 2 doses for cattle.

Tylan injection indication for Mycoplasma has been removed; 'The efficacy data do not support the use of tylosin for the treatment of bovine mastitis caused by Mycoplasma spp'
DISEASES AND TREATMENTS

 Livestock associated MRSA has been diagnosed in pigs with skin disease for the second time since 2014.
 
Bovalto pneumonia vaccines have been launched by Merial to cover for both viral causes of BRD, plus Mannheimia Haemolytica.
 
Bluetongue has been detected in animals imported in Northern England and Scotland. BTV8 was picked up during post-import screening.
