Vitruvian Half Ironman

What better way to ease back into work and exercise after having your second child than signing up for a half ironman?

On an uncharacteristically cold, wet day in September 2016 I set off at 4.30am to Rutland Water to swim 1.2 miles in the reservoir, cycle 52 miles around the Lincolnshire countryside, then run a half marathon along the shores of the lake.  Wet, cold and pretty sore I finished in a surprisingly quick time of 5hr 29 minutes, including the time it took me to repair a puncture, then cycle on a half inflated back tyre for the majority of the bike course. Many thanks to my sponsors, who enabled me to raise nearly £1000 for Wood Green the Animals Charity.
